The inspiration here was a short article I read online about the efforts of NASA to create the plan for getting men to the moon.
I decided to emphasize the dramatic change from the initial effort to see if a man can survive in orbit to getting tons of men and equipment to the moon and back.
All the kits used here are 1/144 scale. The Saturn V is the classic Revell kit and the Mercury/Atlas and the Gemini/Titan II are from Real Space.
The base houses a battery pack for the 3 LED lights mounted at the front corners and the rear center. I spent some time simulating the coverings to the first stage main engine nozzles so I cut some of the base away to try and show those engines. The base also has a turntable attached to the base, so there is a 360 deg rotation. As usual the entire display has a clear plastic dust cover.
